Killing your Darlings

Was it Willa Cather that said, "Sometimes you have to kill your little darlings?" In a literary sense. Those brilliant moments that catch the very essence of your literary skeelz.....sometimes you have to give them the ax. I haven't had time to write lately, what with the mini-doc, but while driving home it dawned on me that I must kill my darling modern pieces. They're all wrong. That's why I hit a block in my writing. So...everything that was must be washed away and rewritten.
Those of us who really are...we are re-writers, not writers.
