If you've been wanting to read Filter but don't have an eReader, I have excellent news!
The new edition has just gone live. Not only does it have the first three chapters of book 2, it also has the wicked awesome Vampire Street font via http://cuttyfruty.com ! It looks so cool, wish it could carry over to the ereaders but they only recognize certain fonts. We trimmed it down by breaking the rules and not beginning every chapter on the righthand page. So Filter is now available for $13 at Amazon. 349 pages.

Live Interview
Dang! I'm going to miss the live interview on Twitter between @ninatypewriter and @goodrandomhouse at 11 this morning! Maybe I can direct and follow??? No my multitasking skills are not fired up due to my current bout of the plague! Well, if you have time between 11-12 hop on Twitter and follow the interview. There's supposed to be a write-up at http://www.independentpublisher.com by 4pm. It will probably be the highlight of my day!

Going to Print
It would be really helpful if people leave some more reviews of filter. I've had 200+ downloads on Smashwords and only three at Amazon. It's really disheartening. Everyone wants six or seven months' work for free, which makes me feel as though they don't think my story is worth $2.99. And if they don't think it's worth that as an eBook I'm certainly not putting out the cash to get it printed. No way.
I don't think people realize how important reviews are from a sales standpoint. Before self-publishing I never really thought about it that way. It was just a way to tell other readers what they should and shouldn't spend their money on.
Now I know, for the indie writer customer reviews are paramount.
I'm really tired and bummed and shouldn't be blogging right now.
My husband refuses the idea of us having a baby while we're living at my parents' house. We can't move out of my parents' house because we're trying to pay off certain debt created by a certain loco ex. And in a few months we have to start paying off his school debt. And I only make a few hundred working at the university as a studio tech. It's like being a teenager. But I'm 30 and I've had my own house and I have a husband and three kids.....So, I reckon that when I graduate I will start grad school (masters in journalism and/or social media) and juggle that with having a job, preferably with a newspaper or radio station or tv news station. Which means I won't have time to write book two, which really bums me out.
Ignore the woman behind the screen she's just a shameless self-promoter dealing with a lot of crap right now.

An Illustration ~ The Fabulous Life of an indie writer

It isn't fair to call us shameless self-promoters. A lot of us work our tails off without ever knowing if it will pan out. I'm working my butt of to sell my book for a whopping $2.99. Tired of being called shamless. I guess if we hired other people to do it for us (an agent) that would make it okay. The fact that we're doing all our own marketing, reading whatever we can, working on our next books, and running our daily lives (because we aren't necessarily making money off writing...you're right, we're shamless.

Sold a Copy!
Maybe it seems silly, but when someone you don't know decides to spend their money on something you worked so hard to create, it's really humbling and exciting.
So today when I discovered that someone else had bought a copy of Filter I nearly screamed into the phone (was talking to my husband).
Whoever you are, thank you. And I hope you enjoy it. And let me know if you enjoy. And if you like William or Viktor better, because I favor William.

Filter, One Customer Really Got it!
One customer review boiled my book down better than I ever could!
Maybe I should have her develop my pitch for me! Here's her review:
Intertwining the past and the present, Ms. Wright expertly weaves a tale of romantic suspense that keeps you turning the pages. The struggle of the feisty Rocky (Raquel) and the moral William against corrupt and unjust relations in modern St. Louis, Missouri, is parallel to the struggle of the fragile Katherine and the courageous Viktor in a bygone era. In the unanticipated ending, the connection these people share is understood, and you will cry out for the next episode of this intriguing tale!

Heaven help me! I'm tweeting. This is all very humbling. Hello I'm nobody, please buy my book from Amazon! I feel pathetic. On top of it, my attempts to customize my twitter profile keep leading to a screen that declares, "Bad Request." I feel like banging my head against a wall. This is why people hire publicity reps and literary agents and why they have wi-fi. Stupid dial up. I should go to bed. This bitterness cannot lead to anything good.

EXCERPT:
EXCERPT:
The man with the accent stepped away. “She is fortunate. There appear to be no injuries.”
Would her pride count? Her mother’s shattered hopes?
Mr. Demure leaned in and kissed his daughter’s forehead and gently spread a blanket across her. “I have always warned her that her curiosity would be the death of her. That or her clumsiness.”
She heard the men laughing as they drifted out of the room. The shadow stayed. She wished he would go. The burning tears ached to be set free. She couldn’t restrain them much longer. With a trembling, unwilling hand she rubbed her throbbing forehead and exhaled deeply.
For a moment she believed he had left, but as she shifted away from the wall she sensed him there beside the bed. He was very close.
Wretched curiosity! But she would fight it and not look.
“Katherine,” he whispered, his breath rolling in a warm wave across her cheek. A traitor tear spilled out, the humiliation was too much to contain. Gently, a finger dabbed the wetness from her cheek. He said it again, softly, as though it pleased him just to say it, “Katherine.”
“Viktor!” the accented voice bellowed from below. And then the shadow was gone.
Darkness overwhelmed her then and carried her away to a land of crows and mocking strangers.
